A
40 meter high swing, suspended from "Älvsborgsbron" - the major bridge
in the harbour of Gothenburg, Sweden! To swing is one way to oscillate between increased weight and close to zero-weight. Children love to experience this sensation in a swing. Swings are also pendulums, which measure time. Each swing has its own characteristic time, depending on the length of the ropes. By making the swing extremely high the interval between the oscillations becomes longer, which gives more room to experience and observe. - a meditative performance where the whizz of the swing is all you can hear, the lights from the harbour and the long pendular motions of the swing is what you see in the wide space under the bridge. |
